Frequently Asked Questions

I registered multiple people online, but have only received one email confirmation—why is that?

Our online registration system sends out confirmations to each registrant separately (to each email address). If you registered someone else, their confirmation goes to their email address.

Because we understand your need to have complete records of your payment, we manually send all confirmations to the payer, usually within a day. If you are missing a registration confirmation, please contact us and we will be happy to send your confirmation(s) to you. Please contact us by replying to your confirmation email or by using our contact page: http://www.cslewis.org/contact/index.html

What should I expect to receive after I register?

Soon after your register, you should receive an e-mail confirmation with your registration information and a confirmation code to use on our online registration site. We will then send a confirmation letter with a book list of recommended readings to the primary mailing address which you listed while registering.  In April, a packet of information including an updated plenary schedule, travel tips, and sites to see in Oxford and Cambridge will be mailed out to all registrants.  Expect another packet in May/June with options for breakout sessions, specific check-in information for in-college guests, and insurance waiver forms.

Is childcare available at Oxbridge?

There are no children’s tracks or childcare programs available at the Oxbridge conference.  If you have more questions concerning bringing children under eighteen to Oxbridge, please email our Registrar, Rachel Andrus, by replying to your confirmation email or by using our contact page: http://www.cslewis.org/contact/index.html

Do I need to arrange transportation from the airport to Oxford/Cambridge?

Yes, all registrants will need to make arrangements to travel from the airport to Oxford or Cambridge and vice versa at the end of the conference.  However, for those attending both weeks of the conference we do handle the transition from Oxford to Cambridge.

Will I be able to use my laptop/hairdryer/iron or other electrical appliances?

Yes, however you will need a voltage converter and a three prong adapter.

Will I have access to a washing machine and dryer?

Registrants have access to college laundry/ironing facilities, which are coin operated.  However, you many wish to bring your own travel iron.

What kind of weather will there be?  What kind of clothes should I pack?

England is beautiful in the summertime; however, it can often be cool, damp and overcast, so plan for daytime temperatures between 60 and 90 degrees.  Layering is recommended due to variations in climate. Semi-casual dress and comfortable footwear will serve most occasions and a raincoat and/or umbrella are a must.  For church services, woman may wish to wear a skirt and blouse or dress while men may wish to wear a sport coat, shirt and tie—no formal or semi-formal events are planned.

Which airport should I chose to fly into, Heathrow or Gatwick?

While Heathrow is a half hour closer to our conference sites, access to the university cities is fairly convenient from either airport. Your destination airport will depend largely on the airline you have chosen to fly.

Please see our Travel Tips document for more specific recommendations concerning flights, buses, and trains operating between major airports and Oxford and Cambridge.
