The BBC is set to film a documentary based on Rev. Dr. Michael Ward’s recent book Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C.S. Lewis. Ward, one of our former Wardens of C.S. Lewis’ home, “The Kilns,” and a seminar leader at Oxbridge 2008, will be working with director/producer Norman Stone, who was a seminar leader both at Oxbridge 1998 and 2005 and directed the documentary C.S. Lewis: Beyond Narnia.
The film, slated for release Easter 2009 on BBC2, is titled The Narnia Code. The book, if you have not yet read it, is a case for a hidden layer of meaning in the Narnia stories based on medieval cosmology. According to Ward, C.S. Lewis themed each Narnia book on a different planet, which gives a key to its meaning and symbolism.

As part of my upcoming dissertation foundation laying, I am planning to read Ward’s book (in my dissertation I will compare CSL’s theology of love to John Paul II’s).
Has anyone read it? I have head both great and lesser things about it, and I would be happy to hear about what you have to say.
