As part of the afternoon program, conferees may choose from any of the Afternoon Electives: Academic Paper Sessions, Symposia, Seminars and Workshops.
Oxford
More than 35 scholars will be presenting juried academic papers in sessions running concurrently with the Afternoon Seminars and Workshops. The papers, representing a wide range of disciplines, address either [1] the Oxbridge 2008 theme, [2] the life and writings of C.S. Lewis and related authors such as Tolkien, Williams, Sayers, MacDonald and Chesterton, or [3] the broader perennial theme of the relationship between Christian faith and the academy. Papers of 20-minutes in reading length will be paired by subject matter in one-hour moderated sessions with discussion. A schedule of papers and presenters will be included on-site in the Program Packet. Conferees are at liberty to attend one or more of these sessions should they choose to do so.

Call for Papers
Oxbridge 2008 is an interdisciplinary conference that serves as a focal point of the C.S. Lewis Foundation's efforts to advance a renaissance of Christian scholarship and artistic expression among faculty. The Institute will feature two internationally recognized plenary speakers each morning followed by academic sessions of faculty papers, as well as seminars and workshops in the afternoons. Engagement of the Institute theme is welcome from either disciplinary or interdisciplinary perspectives, as are proposals on any aspect of the life and writings of C.S. Lewis or other Inklings, or the subject of Christian faith and its relevance to one’s profession within higher education or to the world of the arts.
Paper presentations must not exceed 20 minutes. Submit a 300-word abstract describing the content and relationship to the theme with a 2-page C.V., including complete contact information. Acknowledgement will be made by email.
